red velvet peanut butter blossom cookies

By putting a little twist on this classic cookie makes for a fun Valentine's Day treat. 


Makes: 40
Prep: 15 minutes
Cook: 10-12 minutes


Ingredients:
½ cup shortening
½ cup creamy peanut butter
½ cup sugar
½ cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbls milk
1 ¾ cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
3 Tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
Red Food Coloring, to desired consistency 
Sugar, for rolling
40 Hershey kisses

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.


In a bowl combine the shortening, peanut butter, sugar and brown sugar and cream together with a mixer. Then add in the egg, vanilla extract and milk then beat together.


Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients and mix until well combined, then add in coloring.

Take the dough and form a 1-inch round ball then toss in a bowl of sugar and place on a baking sheet. Repeat the process with all of the dough. Then bake in a preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

After removing the cookies from the oven place 1 Hershey kiss into each cookie pushing halfway down. Serve and Enjoy!
